Saalbach (Austria)
The ski area is very large, with a wide selection of blues, reds and blacks. It is also worth noting that despite it's low altitude the grass hillside mean that a few inches of snow can soon open up the entire ski area. We stayed just outside Saalbach in the Hotel Interstar, in Vorderglemm, which is next to the Schönleiten I lift and at the foot of the Jausernabfahrt blue run. It also has a ski bus stop on the doorstep. We didn't have perfect conditions, in fact when we arrived the snow was non-existent, however a thankful 4/5 inches meant that plenty of pistes were open and conditions by all account were good. We spent most of our time in Saalbach, which has a few nice bars, a couple of strip clubs, plenty of restaurants. But the big shout goes to Bobby's Bar which had a fantastic apres ski happy hour and even it's own bowling alley. Overall would recommend Saalbach, especially if the snow conditions are good, and remember just a few inches of snow can make all the difference!
